The Story Behind Fridaa.art: A Tool Built by an Artist, for Artists
Hi, I’m Eva! I’ve been an artist and illustrator for over ten years, co-founder of Studio Megalo, and a web designer at Mamout. Currently, I’m working on a comic book project starring two cats, Thalie & Freya.
In my daily routine, sketching is an essential step. Whether I’m preparing professional projects or simply keeping my line work fluid, I spend hours practicing on a wide variety of subjects.
From Falling in Love with Life Drawing to Daily Practice Constraints
It was during my art studies in Paris that I first discovered life drawing, and it was love at first sight. Practicing capturing a pose within a set time limit (30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes) forces you to let go—often, the quickest sketches carry the most dynamics and life.
However, practicing gesture drawing at home outside of live workshops quickly becomes a real hassle.
For years, I spent endless time hunting down reference photos on Pinterest or Google, building mood boards, and starting timers on my phone. I also tried YouTube videos and quick pose websites, but I constantly ran into the same limits: a lack of choice, outdated interfaces, and no precise thematic options.
The Turning Point: The Need for Customization
When I started my comic book, I needed to draw cats from every angle and in every position. Yet most online sketch generators are very generic. When working on a specific project—whether you're a professional, a student, or a hobbyist—you don’t just want "an animal" or "a human"; you want to practice the exact subject of the moment.
